You can set your device to "turn-off" between the hours you set, whether on weekdays, weekends or both. . . . this way, if you're one who wouldn't want to be bothered by notifications as messages are received, your BB will be quiet and go to sleep as you had scheduled.

From Main Menu, go to OPTIONS -> AUTO ON/OFF

Default Auto on/off does strange things on my BB Bold

When I set the feature to turn the device off at 10pm and on again at 0700am, I find that it is "awake" long before that. In fact if I manually turn it off before 10pm it goes down with the message: "Next on time: (date) at 12:15am"

I have tried updating/the OS several times but the error remains.

If I give up on the auto on/off function and turn it off manually then use the clock/alarm to turn it on, it works just fine (except that I want it to come on silently with no alarm)

Any ideas why the Auto on/off gets the on time so wrong - If I set the "on" time to something else, say 0800 - it STILL comes on at 12:15am.
