Default Voice Notes gone from Media Card.. - 10-31-2009, 08:40 PM

Hello,

My blackberry bold is displaying the following message when I turn it on:

"A media card has been inserted that contains errors. To correct the errors please use a disc error-checking utility on a computer"

I have tried both to verify and repair in my mac osx Disk Utilities but it failed both times - "Filesystem verify or repair failed."
There was another message which mentioned reformatting the disk also.

I cannot seem to see any of my Voice Notes in my Blackberry..
Could anyone help as I am not sure what to do next?

Many thanks,
Josh

For some reason, media cards usually come formatted (and need to be formatted) in the FAT32 format, which I believe may only be achievable on a windows pc.

I'm not sure if I understand. My media card has been working for months now and I never did any formatting when it was new.

All my voice memos seem to have disappeared off it..

Because most come formatted.
I may be wrong of course.

Remove the media card, and re-insert it into the BB, and see if the files show back up. If they don't, it's possible that the file system on the card has been corrupted somehow, and I doubt you'll get the voice memos back

I doubt Disk Utilities would be able to sort it out. A Windows machine might (but I doubt it, too). It's worth a shot if the files are important and you have ready access to a Windows box. I would suggest copying all the files off the card (using Mass Storage Mode), and then (re)formatting the card in the BB, and copying the files back into the appropriate folder (DO NOT just copy the folders back onto the card and overwrite the folders on the card). Won't get your memos back, but it should fix any file corruption problems on the card.
