Default bold's screen randomly blacked out, no response, red light flashes? :S

hi all! so i have got my bold for almost a month now, and i have been having this problem almost everyday :S while i m using bbm talking to some friends, my bold will just randomly blacked out, and the red light will just keep on flashing just like when u receive a new message, and it will still vibrate and stuff when u receive something :S but then no matter what u press and do to the phone, the screen just wont come back on... everytime i need to wait for at least 1 to 2 minutes till it becomes normal again :S its just very very annoying, can anyone help?

I would suggest that you upgrade your phone OS. You can find the relevant information to do this in the sticky post at the top of this forum.

hhmmm, no I really don't know, but I do know that there is a Desktop Manager for the Mac that you can use to do the upgrade. I've never done it nor have I seen it in action. You can get the DM software here BlackBerry - BlackBerry Desktop Software - BlackBerry Software at BlackBerry.com

yea i do have the desktop manager thing for mac :s but it kept on saying there's no update available when clearly there is a newer version of os online ><

You have to follow the instructions set out in the first sticky post in the forum for your model device.

Remember that must delete the vendor.xml file.

Kirrin, you cant upgrade an OS like the method in the stickied thread.
Because the downloads for the OS are .exe, and Mac's don't recognise .exe files.

I had a random restart issue with my Bold that resulted in a similar behaviour, what worked for me was to force a restart by pressing ALT Right-SHIFT DEL before the device had the chance to reset itself. After this forced reset, things have been working just fine.
