Phone turned off for most of today, when I turned phone on I responded to text and left on side when I picked up phone an hour later to check email it was as dead as a dodo.

I charged the phone last night so battery was full, but just in case I have plugged it in to charge again to see if that triggered anything, all that happened was that the small red light comes on then a picture of large battery shows on screen with a zigzag showing across it which I assume means it is fully charged.

I have taken battery out for 30 mins then put it back in the hope that would trigger something but no luck.

Any advice on how to get the phone working again would be appreciated.

No, it means it doesnt recognise a battery.
Suggests that it isnt connecting with the battery points in the phone.
check for debris, try and hold it down in the slot and try and turn the phone on.

Thanks for advice, I have just done as suggested but no sign of life. Sounds like I may need a new battery.

Try leaving the battery out for 24 hours. Don't know why, but it seems to fix the battery issue. Also, is there a red light when you insert the battery?

If it's less than a week old will you be able to take it back to the shop/return it where you got it from to get a new one. When I bought my bold the shop said I could come back in two weeks if I was unhappy with it.

i had the same issue on my bold, so what I did was kept the battery out for 30 min or so, then i took a paper clip and shorted the battery, 2 pins at a time, all four connectors.
plugged it back in and it worked

batterry with ligtning means its charging...
it seems that your blackberry has battery problem dont do anything just replace your battery it will solved your problem

i had this happen to me yesturday morning spent 30 mins on the phone with rogers blackberry technical support and the guy said its a battery issue. i also tried a different battery and the same thing happens starts up fine the about 2 mins in it just resets and starts over.
