Since you've posted this twice, you probably feel it's important.

FWIW, it's my understanding that SMS "delivery confirmations" are only confirmations that your message has been queued for delivery to your recipient by the carrier's SMS server, not that it's been delivered to the recipient's phone.

So while delivery confirmations are useful in the sense that you know your message got sent out from your end, it is no indication that the message got to their phone.

Easy test for me as I have two BB's: I shut one down completely (took the battery out) and sent an sms to the first BB with confirmations on. Yep, you guessed it, I got a delivery confirmation.

PS - one phone is running OS 4.6 and the other is running 5.0.

EDIT/ADD: I have left my original reply intact, but in reading further articles on the topic, true delivery confirmations can vary by carrier (not all carriers have this available), although cross-carrier delivery confirmations are not very reliable.

Wow...you're pretty much an asshole. I hope you don't teach children or have children. What do you do when they spill milk? Cut their throat?

I subscribe to 3 different carriers all provide delivery report service. I have 2 Bold 9000 with OS 5.0.0.348 the D (Delivery report) over the Checkmark is missing so I wouldn't know my text messages delivered or not. The checkmark only tell you it is sent.

I rolled back to 5.0.0.314 with one of the Bold, the small D letter appear over the checkmark. Any other previous versions work just fine in terms of SMS delivery confirmation. After trying with 2 Bold - I don't think there is a mistake during upgrading.

Kraeer: Quit spilling milk then, perhaps you too will learn, kid. ;)

Ken: yes, I see what you mean now. I did a rollback last night from .348 to .314 to test something else out and remembered your post -- and tested it before and after the rollback. You're right, the confirmations disappear in .348.

Carriers can also control delivery confirmations (which has nothing to do with Ken's issue), such as Verizon did some time back. Some carriers disable it entirely, according to the article I was referring too.

I was hoping Blackberry experts in the forum would tell me how to fix it such as what to edit and add to get the notification back in .348.

I noticed the same this but it is carrier/OS dependant. One work around that I used which worked was, first off go to your SMS settings and write down the service centre #, then pop out ur battery and pull out the SIM Card. With the SIM out put the battery back in.
Wait for the home screen go to SMS settings, you should now see the delivery report option there. Turn it on enter the service centre # click save. Now it will seem that it hasn't saved but pull the battery out, and put your SIM back in. Send yourself an SMS you should now get ur delivery reports.

If you go to SMS settings you won't see the delivery option but what you've done is enabled it in the OS. Some carrier sim cards block that feature as it generates network traffic sending back delivery reports.

Let me know how it works out.

Thanks Vasilios. I have tried the above. With or without the SIM Card in, the delivery report option is there in SMS Text. I have two Bold both previously running 5.0.0.348 but due to lack of the delivery notification in this version, I have to roll back to 5.0.0.314 with one of the Bold.

All my carriers provide delivery report notification service. Maybe the upcoming OS version will include this in. Thanks anyway.
