New to the Forum as well as a BB900 owner.

Previously have had Dopod and HTC Touch gadgets.

I’ve browsed through the Forums and given that they for the most part mention specific single thread questions, it would take me ages to get answers.

Without offending anyone and also setting up ANOTHER thread, if replies and threads/links could be available or offered to the following that would be great.

To make it a little easier, some specifics to start with:

Location - Australia

Provider - Telstra

Handset OS - 4.6

RIM/BIS/BES Subscriber - No

Handset Use - Personal

WAP - Via Data package with Fone Account Provider

Browser - Default and Opera Mini Pro

Calender - Google Sync

Contacts - Nothing loaded..........yet

Any 3rd party programs for Email Accounts been developed ?
(On my Dopod and HTC I could load up Google, Yahoo etc as well as Outlook was a default separate program)

Converting Contacts details (Mobile Numbers) from HTC to load to BB, any easy way or programs available ?

Between 4 kids, work, golf etc I am on the go so looking for programs for ease of use for Calender, message handling, SMS/MMS handling, emailing etc.

Generally any feedback on do's, don’ts and suggestions on getting the most out of Fone.

If Telstra was not such a rip off on the BBRIM/BIS/BES Data Package I would sign up, but due to location I cannot go with another carrier as Telstra has the best coverage.

Gotta have the BB data plan to do email and sync with Google.

The BB works well with Outlook for contacts and calendar items. Sync the HTC to Outlook. the load BB Desktop Manager, configure it and then sync your BB. The data should move over. But keep in mind, email does not sync.

SMS is SMS and that is a phone application. Works on the BB just as it would on any other device.

I always keep my complete contact list, phone numbers and calendar in Yahoo and then sync it to my BB. Much easier than trying to enter them into the device. You can also unload phone numbers from a SIM card to create an initial entry.

Your BB can sync and get email for all kinds of web based email clients, but you need a data plan.

Agreed, you'll need the BlackBerry Data Plan for full enjoyment of your BlackBerry.

Yes have done the FAQ thing.

Unfortunately in Australia we are restricted with Service Carriers and for where I live for overall fone coverage I have to use Telstra.

This in turns means they charge like nobodies business on everything.

A BB Data package (cheapest) per month with them is $30.

Loaded Mini Opera and synced through Google.

Can send MMS but cannot receive directly to my fone, however I can get them via Telstra's website.

Overall its a great fone, tried it out on a call through a lengthy black spot reception area the other day and it came up trumps.

BB data in the US is also $30 a month.

How much is your monthly phone account for calls and what value do you get for that ? (Excluding WAP/Data Services)

My bill is about $150 US a month, 1400 minutes, $30 for BB data and $10 for a second line.

Where in Australia are you? I used to live in Richmond when I flew for the RAAF, 1980-1982.

Very bad value for money in Aussie with Carriers.

Barrier Reef territory, great spot. Spent a week up there. Loved it.
