Just wondering...if you could, would you trade your Bold 9000 for the new Bold 9700? Why or why not?

I actually find the 9000 more of an eye candy the the 9700.

A couple of weeks ago i gave my sister my 8900 as a going away present and went out to buy a new phone, it was either the 9000 or the 9700 and i like the 9000 wayy more.. sure the 9700 has a better camera, battery life and probably processor but still.. i find the bold 9000 for some reason better, and i prefer the track ball... i dunno maybe im just weird :S

For a price no, but for free, yes

I converted my mom to a BB last week after almost 10 years of using a dumbphone and she's loving it, she's a BBM'ing, SMS'ing, Emailing Machine.

Originally I had planned to swap my 9000 for her 9700 once I unlocked it, but after playing with her 9700, I don't know if I want it anymore.

It's like typing on my old 8310 again. The size of the 9000 isn't an issue for me since it fits in all my pockets and I love typing on my 9000.

Although if she does want to swap for free, I think I'll take it just to have a new toy, and use my HUP on the next flagship BB.. maybe a Storm 3 (if the phone ever goes to Rogers) or a Bold 3

I had a choice between the two and I took the 9000. Plus for me was the larger screen and larger keyboard. I would have liked the new trackpad but I wasn't willing to give up on the screen and keyboard size.

no, I will not trade ..... especially bcoz I can do a HUP every year.... so I am going to wait for a better phone.

Give me a slider blackberry with touch screen and a stylus .... for that, I will trade for sure. Still don't understand why RIM don't have that yet. LOL

The Blackberry Storm is and Blackberry Storm 2 are touch screen, though they don't have styluses. Why would you want a stylus, they're a bit obsolete.

I went through this just before Xmas and chose the 9000 over the 9700. I've also seen MANY of these same threads pop up every few days it seems so I won't get into my reasons yet again.

for the trackpad instead of this trackball.

And since my 9000 is quite worn.

the blackberry bold has 1 gb onboard memory for media files, only 128 mb for the os, apps, messages, etc. The 9700 has 256 mb for the os, apps, messages, etc.

The Bold 9000 should be considered the "Flagship" for all Blackberrys past/present/or future. The 9000 is probably the best phone/pda/smartphone, etc that I've ever had the privilege of being associated with. I do wish we had the 256 mb on line but that is not enough to make me change. I understand marketing though and when you have a good horse -ride it till it drops-. RIM is an outstanding company and it is certainly not my place to question all the things they do. I don't see the P/L...Keep up the good work RIM but maybe you could let us 9000 users upgrade to 256....

Or they could let us save apps, emails, call logs, etc. to a media card and just use the app memory for the os.

And you could end up with a 9700.

Double the memory.
Faster processor.

Faster Processor? I thought they both had a 624 MHz processor?

I tried the 9700 and went back to the 9000 for the bigger screen and bigger kb to type on.

Stylus is good for handwriting (e.g. write in chinese).
Also, using a Stylus will not put finger prints on the screen.

Storm2 is still missing a slide out keyboard to have the best of both worlds.
A killer Blackberry will be a Storm2 with a slide out keyboard and a stylus.

Storm2 with a slider is very good....but a stylus will just make it prefect.
