Please Login to Remove!

OK I have my BB 9000, I theres always going to be problems with the trackballs!

Basically, it wasn't going left, so I cleaned it and it works fine other than the fact it now wont go down!

Have I broken something or is it just dirt?

I wonder in hindsight how much of trackball problems are dirt and grime and how much -- particularly after a couple years -- is mechanical wear and tear.

My advice is replace the trackball. Watch the various videos you can find easily on youtube. The replacement trackball assemblies are cheap, and it's a cinch to replace them.

Hah. My old 8820, the trackball would get stuck, and I'd to the press-and-roll until it unstuck. At first it would be good for a while, then less, then about a week at most, then it would be stuck again. I put up with it.

Then I handed the 8820 down to my wife. She wasn't about to put up with it. So I replaced the trackball. And I wished I had done it when I first had trouble instead of putzing with it for months.

Wife is still using that 8820.

Eagle,
Q-tips have small fibers that tend to come off the stick and lodge into whtever you're cleaning. Likely as you were removing dirt a fiber from the Q-tip dislidged into the trackball. I recommend using a microfiber cloth with the alcohol (I use eyeglass cleaning solution - it also contains alcohol). Dampen the cloth and work the trackball with it.

Regards.
