Default Installing Applications - Security threat ?

Please Login to Remove!

as new user of bb i am excited about different applications that i can install
using BB app world

But does it also puts my device to any security of privacy threat ?

as when we install any application it asks for various permissions to be allowed for that applicatuon

How can I protect my device, any best practices ?

That's something you are going to have to evaluate on a case by case basis. Take into account who the developer is and your trust on that count, and what the app is for and whether the permissions requested make sense for what the app does.

Very good advice, and really all you need to know, other than what each permission is used for and its implications. If you have any questions about application/permission mix by all means ask here.

Some appliction developers are remarkably lax on managing application permissions and accepting the users' decisions. I remember one update to Google maps asked for a rediculouse set of permissions and sent the device into a reboot-loop if it didn't get them. They changed their approach somewhat and are doing better, but not every developer is.
