Desktop 7.1 PC and Media Sync - hangs

Hello. I changed to version 7.1 of BlackBerry Desktop for Windows and the Media Sync portion of the program (Music, Pictures and Videos) shows the "scanning" wheel but it stays there forever, no error message, just keeps spinning. I suppose I can go back to version 6.1 of the Desktop, but has anyone seen this problem and found a solution?
