Either way, lets not hijack this thread any further, its certainly not about Mac vs PC and most certaintly not about Dvorak

I'm really glad this thread is still discussing the topic "Anybody seen spy pics of the 9xxx or mockups? " :P

iphone = superb phone + music player + browser
bb = BES BES BES! <-- what would i do without that emails just rock! BIS is awesome, BES is even better! i love bb's!

How about a BB with the keyboard they have now and a touch screen. I could see them doing that before they would go 100% touch.

Well, since we are ALL staying on topic, I'd like a BB with mind control. No interface whatsoever. Every email just arrives in my mind, spam-filtered, and categorized. Then, I just have to think my reply, and off it goes. The handheld portion will just be some cool looking block of rare metal and glass, just to show off that I have the latest and greatest. Maybe it should do my laundry too...I suck at that part.

I love the form factor of the current 8800. My favorite so far, with the 7105t (yup, that's right, the 7105t) coming in second. I'd love to see a return to the thumbwheel. Yeah, I know it's not gonna happen, but that's my personal preference. The trackball has grown on me to the point where I don't pine for my old thumbwheel anymore, but I'd still prefer it.

On the OS side, I'd love to see native handling of html email. Maybe an option to enable full html, set to off by default. I'm using BBSmart and love it. Until RIM gets it together and includes native support for html email, however, this will do. I could understand in the past not supporting html for several reasons. Keeping data usage to a minimum, especially in a pre-EDGE environment, made sense. Plus security is an issue, although I've yet to hear of a Blackberry virus or malware. But nowadays networks are fast and getting faster so data usage is not a big issue anymore. If it is for someone, they could disable html on their own device. Similarly, if an IT department decided it was not in the company's best interest to allow html email they could simply block it with an IT policy.

I have to agree with those that expressed concerns over a touch-keyboard as opposed to a tactile one. Part of the reason I disliked the iPhone was the touch-keyboard. It is very inaccurate and not conducive to fast typing with thumbs--rather, it required you to tap with your index finger, which on long emails tends to be too awkward (and awkward looking!).

I think the best improvements would be upping the camera mp's, and most of all, revamping or streamlining the OS with more function. Maybe a larger screen and a more IE-true explorer experience.

any IE experience is not a good one IMO.

They just need to copy the Safari browsing of the iphone or the web browsing of the symbian devices.

A translation of that page:

And more rumors arrive to us of which they could be the futures BlackBerry device of the series 9xxx, again such of hand of BoyGenius. Between the new characteristics it is rumored: - Devices 3G/HSDPA - a processor of 600MHz - Possibility of making a complete Backup/Restauración in the external card - Availability for year 2008 - and the possibility that RIM removes some device with touch screen. Although that either also predicted the friend to it Stefano, administrator of bbworld.info in one night of insomnia does or some time, made a prototype, even called it: WonderBerry

The same guard an incredible similarity with which BoyGenius shows to us in its entrance and to the patent that in the month of June registry RIM on a scrollable keyboard. You judge you yourself:

That looks nice, too bad it's as fake as photoshop can make it. Wallpaper, media icon and alarm icon give it away. Nice try though.

Even so, that picture posted at the bottom I assume is from the patent for a scrolling keyboard. If that's what it is, it's pretty interesting to see, but I think I'd have to reserve judgment for a device like that till I saw it..

Could be a neat idea though, large touchscreen behind a thin keyboard that slides up over a portion of the screen for tactile input. If they can pull that off and also bring back the 72XX series oval keys, I'm sold.

HAHAHA, don't make me laugh. Sure the BB is great, but the interface and features of the iphone blow away anything RIM has now. The only thing BB has on the iphone is the keypad. -quote

that guy is serious, haha, i had a iphone and i changed to a 8300,
the iphone was great dont get me wrong, but its a preference to some people!

im loving my new bb and cant wait to get the new 9000 series bb . thanks

3. Browser - The BB browser is primitive at best, the iphone browser allows you to use the real internet on your mobile.

4. Better media support - RIM is trying here, but its far from good.

Given this am I ready to ditch my 8830 for the iphone, not yet. The sealed battery is a deal breaker for me. Could RIM incorporate some of these features into BB, absolutely.
Regarding HTML Email: One big reason that I can think of is security - an area where RIM takes no small measure of pride.

I had to review and write up a full report for my IT department on why the iPhone didnt fit our needs. The major issues that it lacked for us, was tethered modem, real push solution, non-proprietary connection to PCs (software or cable), durability under business use.

Now, that being said, if an iPhone is released on 3G substantially sooner than a BB, tethering is made possible, 3rd party apps show productivity improvements, and durability questions are put to rest, well then maybe we'll give it another look.

I have said it in another post, but the end result of this "gimmick"/"toy" is RIM's R&D will look at some different things in future version that the iPhone has brought to the market, which is fine by me.

I have to argue with you here. I just got my Blackberry for my day job (Fortune 10 company) - and I love it. However, I have been doing ActiveSync "push" from my home Exchange server to my Windows Mobile 5 phones (5 users) for nearly a year and it works fantastic. I also setup true push e-mail for Small businesses and it only costs them $500 (Windows 2003 Small Business Server) and a data plan on their phone.

So, while I do think Blackberry is superior for large enterprises; I would argue that there is a perfectly fine "true push technology" for the small organizations. The only real drawback is that I can't remotely wipe the devices ... but with small organizations I can force a user to change their password if they lose their phone and it'll stop syncing.

I know I'm going to get killed here, but I can actually type way faster on the iPhone, than I can on my 8320. I think the soft keyboard is great and allows for a fullscreen when not needing the keyboard.

I guess I'm getting old and my eyes are not as good as they used to be, because I am starting to find the blackberry screen to be too small. The iPhone is a far superior texting, browsing and multimedia device. I find the blackberry to be a better phone, emailing, and chatting device.

My dream device is the hardware of the iPhone, with the OS of the blackberry, with the browser and itunes integration of the iPhone.
