Question Any ideas about when the 9000 series will be released? - 03-16-2008, 08:33 AM

Does anyone have a general idea about when the 9000 series Blackberry will be released? I am contemplating getting the 8830 (I have an 8800) but do not want to do that, and then right when I get it, RIM decides to unveil the 9000 series.

If you have a general estimation on what part of the year it may be released, feel free to step up. Thanks

Can you be more specific? For example, this summer? End of third quarter?

If it will not be within or around the next two months, then I am going to go ahead and move to the 8830 as a lot of people have been posting a lot of positive things about the device.

best estimate is the day its announced from the carriers and RIM there is no specific time-table for release on the boards, only guesses. (which they will remain guesses until announced)

What if I make the announcement!? Maybe that will spur them into action?

The 9000 is still a long ways off. Keep your 8800, no sense is switching to anything else right now (unless you want WiFi).

8830 doesnt have WIFI. you would have to get the 8820, 8320, or the 8120 to get WIFI.

almost we can be sure that the 9xxx will be introduced during the WES in May, but release the phone to public is another story.

There is no way the 9000 is out for Verizon in June. It's highly questionable that it will be out for any carrier at that point, and CDMA will be well behind GSM.

I was told by an ATT tech that the 9000 should be released VERY soon after WES. I asked him how sure he was, he said VERY SURE. Your guess is as good as mine, but I am hoping. Also said it would not be touch, but would have wifi and 3g.

Speaking to a rep in Toronto. RIM has not announced anything but the "new" model is still being tested. After the announcement from Apple on competing with RIM they have made some tweaks on the new model to DIFFERENTIATE themselves from Apple. He mentioned to me to look at Late May or June 2008 as possible announcements.

So which will happen first? The 9000 or OS 4.5

Speculation and rumors abound! Possible announcements forthcoming. AT&T Rep. "in the know" (why would anyone want UMA anyway).

Oh boy...

I spoke to my cousin yesterday, he is an AT&T salesman. If you live in Jersey you might have read about the most popular AT&T store in New Jersey, that's the one he works at, which my uncle owns . He was telling me that blackberry is pushing the release date until late this year, like the fourth quarter or early next year. So do not plan on it anytime soon. Sorry to bust bubble. Him and I are waiting for it like everybody else. All I do know is that the phone is going to blow the iPhone away. If you guys have any questions, let me know and I'll ask him for you. He does not know the design yet.
