It's not uncommon for companies to make small changes in different places to every copy of pre GA collateral they distribute. Sometimes it's only a missing period somewhere in the verbiage. If RIM cared about leaks (and I assume they do) they will probably be able to narrow it down while they build a gallows in the courtyard.

I don't see this happening Apple would have to approve the subsidation of the device.

Apple has full control over the pricing of the phone as I understand it. discounting like that would go big time against apples modus operandi

Sure buy the iphone now at a subsidy price and when the next memory bump comes out 3-6 months later and you want it, full price please and a contract extension. You will never get away now.
