which do you like so far and why?

i can honestly say without all the specs for the flip phone, i like it more already.

they would have to do some whacky things to the kickstart for me not to like it more, the 9000 just looks ewww... worse than the curve (which i love).

I'm waiting for production release models. Speculating on devices still undergoing development seems kinda pointless. And I'm a function over form design kinda guy. Good product design is a plus but I'm not choosing my next device based solely on its appearance.

The hinges on clamshells seem to be a common point-of-failure, FWIW.

I think it will be preference. If you like flip open phones, the kickstart might be what your looking for. Another good point about the kickstart is that its a BlackBerry!, Im wondering if the front display will show more than just a clock, like SMS/Email/Bluetooth/BB Messenger icons. (like a ribbon on the front part of the shell).

I actually like the design of the kickstart, its alittle different and RIM is expanding the style. (what about that touchscreen BB as well? I think RIM is upping there game a lot. Watch out Apple...)

If you like the class BlackBerry with the full qwerty keyboard than the 9000 might be better. I think ill wait to see both come out and see what people say the pros and cons are.

I am no fan of sure-type BBs, but the Kickstart looks really nice. It's certainly piqued my interest.

From what we know so far the 9000 is for power users/business (or just people that like power)

The Kickstart is definitely a consumer based device and will do great in that space.

They're both beautiful IMO. All I want is a 3G BB on T-Mo. Please God? Thanks.

So the 9000 would come out from AT&T?

It is a BlackBerry regardless of how you use it. It will have the same OS. It will have the same features. It will use BES and BIS the same way. It will even make the same freaking noises. So it comes down to maybe THREE things.

1) The form factor. Some people love flips, come people hate them. I have talked to people who won't buy phones unless its a flip. Personally, I absolutely hate having to open the freaking screen. I am a pull out of my pocket and use it kind of guy.

2. Suretype vs full Qwerty. Some people love Suretype, and other people hate it. Personally I can type just as fast with Suretype as I can with a full Qwerty, except I can type better one handed. So I absolutely love Suretype keyboards. Although I love Qwerty keyboards just as much. So for me, it really doesn't matter.

3. Screen real estate. I can see there being a big difference with a vertically longer screen. If you use your Blackberry for its email and browsing mobile web pages, I can see where a vertical screen would not be so good. I would much rather fit more text on the screen from left to right, than having to scroll up and down. To be fair, I'm not sure how the screen will be handled so I can't judge really.

This is not like choosing two completely different phones. This is the exact same phone, just with a different body. And THAT will always be subjective.

Because it is coming from Jibi. He seems to have a lot of inside knowlege into RIM development. So I would trust him over someone who says .... "Gosh I know Tmobile will have one! They gotta ... the just gotta!"

The Kick Start is finally going to convince me to give up my beloved 7105t. Maybe.

Makes sense considering they are the last of the big 4 to deploy 3G.
