Ugh flip phones are dead.... Why would RIM want to compete with a phone design that is on it's way out?

flip phones are still the most popular phones in the consumer arena.

i agree. ther r still the cheapest phones out there. i see so many people with flip phones especially young people on the bus. Flip phone in one hand, Sidekick in the other....

Gimme a few minutes for him to finish the "biohumanoidalpixelreplication" process and we'll see who the culprit at RIM is... it take a while to access the RIM employee genetic database (hacking is hell).

Yeah, flip phones are pretty much dominant in the consumer space. Outside of people at work with Blackberries, I only know of one other person besides myself, that uses a non flip phone. I have an HTC touch along with the 8830. One other guy has a sony candybar, everyone else uses flip phones.

This could be absolutely massive in the consumer space.

RIM needs to get its act together. Too many devices, too many differences between them, too many differentiating versions of their software, etc. This is just another example of something that should never come to market. It dilutes the brand, it splinters the code base. Generally, it sucks. Get it together guys!

Look at the size of that thing. It looks like an 8800 plus the flip screen. That is waaaaaay too big to be usable. If I was RIM, and making a flipberry, it probably wouldn't be much larger than a razr -- thicker, yes, but I can't see why they would need that much real estate -- heck, the keys look bigger than an 8800s and it's got a suretype keyboard.

I mean, that doesnt necessarily mean that it was taken almost a year ago...but it does seem pretty strange. This phone could be completely redisigned or the idea scrapped completely by now.

Personally I think the culprit is a hobbit with small hands, which makes the phone appear to be much larger.

how can you possibly say this without ANY information about the device? Its a flip device, which would appeal to MANY people out there. Form factor IS a factor in purchasing. Different versions, different OS's different form factors, it is important to consumers. Business customers, most dont care, its whatever their company gave them. Keep in mind RIM wants to rule the business market AND the consumer market

i have been from 8100 to 8320... now i would love to have something to switch with my 8320 everyday.
