It is even uglier the the original 9000. Who is designing these things? Fire him immediately. And tell me why someone would want a 3G less 9000?

i think it looks pretty good and no 3G where i am so it would be a winner for my company. although im partial to another device, i would recommend it to coworkers if they needed BB.

This way they can charge $1000 for the 9000 and not feel guilty!

I would prefer not to have 3G because of the battery drainage i've read about.

I wouldn't mind a non 3G BB as I dont tether
if the hardware is the same minus 3G I would consider it

What's the point of the 9000 if it doesn't have 3G. If my 8310 had 3G, I wouldn't even have an interest in the 9000.

has more onboard memory and a faster processor
3G is nice but not an absolute for me
have a couple devices with 3G ability
only thing 3G would allow me is to talk and email at same time

I like it.. I really do.. I think its a bit more polished. But, I wonder where I can use the tooth floss to stop the "creak".

Just found this update on Boy Genius Report...
BlackBerry Javelin and BlackBerry Niagara explained!
So, GSM/EDGE version for ▪T▪ ▪ ▪Mobile▪ and the new at&t, and an EV-DO version for Verizon Wireless, with Verizon's coming to a store near you in May, 2009! You heard it here first (unless you read it on BGR before seeing this thread! )

Its been "solved" to some extent by providing a significantly larger (volume) battery in the 9000, a lot to do with its size, I'm guessing. You can't "solve" the fact that a radio transmitting/receiving at data rates 5-10x the speed is going to use more power, that's simple electronic engineering. You can do a number of things to reduce power consumption, but you can do those with or without a 3G radio, and most of them have already likely been done in past BB's. You want 3g? Its going to eat more power - period, amen.

If your on T-Mo's archaic network, we have no reason to get a device that has 3G bands that aren't compatible.. Now 1700 MHz BB9000 and you can count me in..
P.S. It is a little harder on the eyes than the 3G 9000.. That's why I will be keeping AT&T around..

When Verizon gets their version, it should be its version of 3G ie EDVO, is that correct?

Yes it will run on EVDO. All GSM versions up to the 9000 are EDGE only (unless you count the 8707v). Verizon users will get 3G when their version gets released. But expect at least 3Q 2009..

There is absolutely no guarantee that this device will EVER make it to CDMA. CDMA doesnt really do much with WiFi, Verizon in particular. Seeing as that + the cpu is the only main difference, they move on to completely different things.

Agreed Sith.. The main question is IF it would make it to Verizon. Just speaking hypothetically.
And if it was on Verizon you could kiss GPS good bye..

Verizon has a lot of BB users. Its more likely, then not that they will get the 9000. It just will take about a year. By the way some were saying the same thing about the Curve and Verizon, with some saying they would skip Curve all together. So much for predictions.

I cannot imagine that RIM would not come out with a version of the 9000 for Verizon. We are talking about the second largest carrier in the US, that is a lot of coins left lying on the table. It may be a different configuration but I am willing to bet that something will surface in about a year.
