I recently read a blog that stated one of the disadvantages of the storm was the click touch screen.. i at first, thought the click touch screen would have been a good thing - preventing you from making typing errors, etc. But now im starting to have seconds thoughts. One of the quotes in the blog was"

"It seems that to access every menu icon or key on the onscreen keyboard, you need to press the screen down because, like we’ve known, the display is one big button. I can only imagine what the display’s state would be like within the next few years."

So is the click touchscreen in your opinion, a con or pro?

Who cares in the next few years there will be the typhoon or hurricane and it'll be x times better.

I'm more concerned over the browser not having muli-tab/window support which I consider weak. That was one of the features I really liked about Safari on the iPhone

I tried a 9500 in a Vodafone store and it did indeed seem as though you were moving the whole screen - quite disconcerting, though it was only a demo unit.

OTOH in this video the process seems - and sounds - quite natural.

It's a huge pro. I don't have any worries about longevity. How often do your mouse buttons break? And how often do you replace your phone? I don't keep them for more than 18-24 months max.

Separating confirmation from navigation is UI 101. Apple would have done it on the iPhone if they'd thought of it (in fact they have used it on the new MacBook trackpads).

I think it will be hard for some of us to answer until we have the device in our hands.

I have used one, and it is a big pro in my opinion. As mentioned a couple posts up, how often do you replace other buttons on a mouse or phone? Why would this be any different.

I have seen reports that since the screen goes inward using springs that there's a small gap all the way around the screen and some folks speculate that it might cause trapped dirt to build up or if anything is spilled on the phone's screen the device is toast. :( I am really existed about this phone but i also have alot of doubts as to how durable the device really is. I guess we will all have to wait and see...

When the SW is completely optimized SurePress will be great. Honestly, it's what makes the device. RIM has a winner with this technology.

Has to be a pro, first and foremost, by judging from all the video's you still have the same touch functions. Granted, yes, you are separated by the suspension system from the actual screen, but who cares. Just by adding the "surepress" feature, will only enhance and make the "touch" features better. This is all human psychology, and RIM was smart to address it. People love physical keyboard of the tactile feedback, and this is the solution that will feed their needs, but also have the touch capabilities!

Massive pro. It's a terrific development and makes the device more than just an expensive toy.

What I want to know, is what Mavis Beacon thinks of the keyboard!
