Default BIS Not Working

Please Login to Remove!

I searched this already.

I set up a .vzw.blackberry.net account and it said 20 minutes to start receiving mail, so I guessed it meant 20 minutes to also be able to log into the BIS Network.

When I try signing in, it tells me to check my credentials. I'm sure I type everything in correctly, so I think there's some kind of problem. How long does it usually take?

They're overloaded. You might have to wait hours, or even until tomorrow depending on their server load. The Storm has been a minor nightmare for Verizon.

@Buddycuffs,

Do yourslelf a favor and call CS and have them check your account that it was set up correctly. I had a similar problem and I discovered that the girl in the VZW store set me up for BES instead of BIS.

not sure if you know this, but you will only see new messages coming in, you will not see existing ones which are not using IMAP. If using pop3, then only new messsages.

I was in the same boat as you, and then the lady on the phone said that I would be partially charged for the BES, and then pro rated for BIS, hung up on her, and called back and got it fixed, emails coming in left and right...

On my curve with BIS and Imap to Gmail I do not see all of my email, only new email. Are you saying that with the curve I will be able to see old messsages also?

Also, will my current BIS account work on the Storm when I get it Monday, or will I need to set up a new one? Do I need to call and have CS do anything?

If you're a current VZW sub, then no. You just have to switch the PIN in your BIS account. If you're coming from another carrier, you will have to set up a new BIS account through the VZW BIS portal.

BIS will only show/deliver new messages, it will not show what is in your inbox, albeit gmail, mac.com, yahoo, and any pop account. If you're wanting to see what's in your inbox for gmail, try using the latest gmail app if youre using gmail.

I don't actually even really want to use the BIS to receive e-mail. I just want to be able to log-in to that BIS portal so I can get rid of that problem where I receive a message in my g-mail inbox saying that a message was successfully sent.

I'm still having the problem.

Are you receiving a copy of the gmail that you sent? If, so, you need to create a filter that tells gmail not to resend emails with your gmail address in the 'from' box.

If you're getting a delivery confirmation, go into 'messages' Options>Email Settings. Select your gmail account and turn off 'Confirm Delivery'.

you dont do it from BIS, you do it on your phone, go into your messages, menu, options, email settings, confirm delivery = no instead of yes for all of your accounts

That seemed to fix the problem where I was receiving confirmation on my computer, but for some reason I got a duplicate on my phone.

If I send a message to Joe and the subject is TEST, it'll go through and then a minute later, I'll receive a message from my e-mail and the subject is TEST.

How do I fix that?

If I understand you correctly follow this: HOW-TO: Prevent G-mail "Sent Items" from being sent to your handheld.

Yeah, this is what the original post was asking, heh.
I try to follow those steps, but I can't log into my BIS account.

Ok, then you will need to have VZW re-set your account so you can set it up on the PC, It has happen to me before, I don't know why but they fixed it.

VZW will reset it for you. You can also add the filter from within the email setup on your Storm. I did it last night.
