Default Pearl vs Storm Reception

Please Login to Remove!

I have asked this question before with no response but how does the RF on the Storm compare to the Pearl or other BBs? I know that everyone is having fun with the new Storm features or battling the quirks but I would really appreciate some comments on the reception because living in a fringe area I can't get one if it isn't a good phone first.

Thanks for an help,

Frank

PS And yes I will probably post this on other forums in hope of getting some response.

I can only tell you via my hour in-store test with the phone, but....

Side by side, my Pearl had 3 bars of service, where the storm was showing 4. Browsing the internet was much faster on the storm, and call quality seemed pretty much the same...

However if you're like me, I bought the Pearl b/c of it's smaller size, and now I have the storm ordered. The size of the Storm is obviously bigger than the Pearl, and it does weigh a little bit more. It's something I'm going to have to get used to, but the other added benefits outweigh the size issue.

Thanks for responding. My Pearl has as good reception as any VZ phone I have ever had and I am hoping the Storm will be as good. As you say the Pearl will be hard to leave for its size and keyboard too.

Sorry for the non reply in the other thread (I think you asked me...and now I can't remember what thread it was in) but in all honesty I can't answer it right now....reason being, after I got the Storm I left for vacation. So I can't compare it to my "normal turf". So far though, I've had zero issues with reception.

No problem. I think I am going to wait for a few weeks - especially since I have to pay retail - and pay attention to all the feedback. Maybe by then there will be a firmware update out. Also I am getting more and more dependent on my Bold which is by far the best AT&T phone I have had. 3G and EDGE are completely seamless and reception is outstanding - even better than my old N95 and much better than the iPhone. The WiFi on the Bold is also nice to have because I travel to places where cell reception is pretty spotty and almost all motels have WiFi now. I wish VZ would have a clue about this but as we have recently seen with the Storm intro they seem to not care too much about old customers or their needs. Glad I got somebody whose knows more about my requirements than I do.

Thanks for the response,

Frank
