Default Storm Typing Question

Please Login to Remove!

Hi
when typing a line of text, how do you go back to change a word? You cant seem to easily go back into a line of typed text and make changes.
Am I missing something as this is a real pain.

thanks

Are you touching the sentence or word you want to change? If you are still having problems with touching the word or letter, try changing to a larger font size to see if that helps.

I tried the Storm for a few minutes at the store today and ran into the same issue. This device will definitely take some getting used to.

When you want to edit, hold your thumb somewhere on the screen, away from the cursor, not hard enough to click. Just touch the screen. The cursor will change from a solid rectangle to an outline of a rectangle. Move your thumb, keeping it on the screen, and the outline cursor will move to where you want it. Try it, you will see.

When I learned this, today, I started to think I will keep my Storm.

Yep, and I'd recommend people read the pdf user's guide on the CD.

And of course, I've read it twice...I just didn't get it. It really works well -- just unexpected.

That tip makes a huge difference. I missed that when I was reading the manual last night (probably because it was 3 AM and I was still playing around with it).

Ah man, we all must have just over read about the tip. I really appreciate you for that! I used it and showed my wife and she was tickled pink!

I was equally elated to read this response. Not being able to scroll backwards through the text was a huge strike against the Storm. But now I'm lovin it more!
Thanks!

Does this also work in the browser? I mean can you highlight a link to select without your finger being right over the link, then click the screen there to select it? That was my main objection to the Storm.

I love this thing. Typing is a breeze in either layout.

Default its OK I guess

I'd still prefer a few simple arrow keys. Turning the cursor into box works, but if the cursor is at the edge of the screen (particularly the bottom) touching the screen activates the keyboard instead of changing the cursor. If you get too close to the cursor you can't see the rectangle past your finger, and you can't see where to drop it. Also, it jumps when released and gets posited "close" to where you want it to drop instead of exactly where you need it. I hope I'm doing something wrong and that it's better than what I'm currently seeing. Also, it only changes to a rectangle 50% of the time on my first try.

If you turn the hover time to 100 it changes from a blue box to a black cursor fast enough to be comfortable to use, at 600 it is unbearable. Also you do not have to be on the location of the edit just the same line. Just tap the line move off to the side a little so you can see and hover till it turns black, then use your finger as a slider. Hope that makes some sense.

I have been pounding on this device for a few days now with no battery pulls, no lock ups and really no complaints. The full keyboard is a little off for my fingers but staying slightly to the left of the left side keys and a little right on the right side keys makes it pretty accurate.

Opera did end up in downloads and installed perfectly.

No dropped calls, email is perfect, visual VM is the best thing since sliced bread.

My complaint.... rotation is a little slow, but I would rather have it slow than blinking back and forth from landscape to portrait fast enough to hypnotize me.

VZNavigator removal appears to have helped performance.

I give it -

The hover time made a big difference. What did you do to get Opera mini to download?
