just to let you all know i have unlocked my UK storm today and everything works on it.... internet, BIS, sms, email....everything.

it cannot be done remotely. i had to take it to a company in machester UK. to do it.. took them 55 secs to do it

they used the usb cable that comes with the storm. i presume its code generated to unlock it.

they charge £20 to unlock it and it took about 55 secs. and they unlocked 4 for me

Are you able to still use all the applications on it none of them are locked?

Unlocking a BlackBerry is not like jailbreaking an iPhone. All the applications that currently work on the Storm will still work - unlocked or not.

If it is unlocked, how does your bis work? is it a esn or a imei?

Is there any place online to trust to unlock the blackberry storm or do you have to go into a shop?

I am heading to these people in an hour to get my Vodafone Storms unlocked. They are local and use the same process IanC used to get his done. Also, they are in Miami and I do not have to worry about shipping.

A really big issue i have is that i go back to the States a lot and wanted to know is there a way to change the proxy on the email so that i can us email out there on one of their providers

Crazy question can an update change the network the that the phone runs off of like being able to use the 3g network in the US

I got my storm unlocked in walthamstow London. It was done while I waited and has been working on o2 really well.
I am really impressed with the google maps application too

I am all excited after getting my mum-in-law's unwanted storm upgrade.I am with O2 but want to use the storm. i tried a shop in Coventry who charge £25. i was concerned that all other apps like facebook, you tube etc wouldn't work. Also the navigation system. Can someone please give me peace of mind by confirming if they will work after unlocking and on O2.
