| Storm won't stop talking to network - Battery drains FAST. Please Login to Remove! I have had the Storm since Friday. Since I have activated it, my battery dies extremely fast. I have set the brightness to 10%, and I am not using Bluetooth.
I have seen some other posts where people aren't having any problems with their battery life. Mine drains like mad.
The dual arrows are constantly on... like it is continuously connecting to the network. I live in a great coverage area, and coverage was never a problem with my Curve. My Curve never talked to the network this much.
The constant connections are slowing it way down too.
Any ideas? | | Offline

| do you have any GPS apps running? If so, exit them, close on google maps will not shutdown the app.
If it doesnt work, pull the battery and boot back up and see if it still occurs. If it doesnt, then you had an app running in the background more than likely. | | Offline

| I was using the GPS on Saturday and Sunday, which I initially attributed to the battery drain.
I have them both turned off. I have done the battery pull, with the same results.
I think I might have a setting on somewhere that is causing this... i'm stumped. | | Offline

| My storm battery seems to last a decide amount of time (1 day +). I have been using it a lot (since its new) and am happy with the battery life. I had the bold briefly and would consider it equal. Something must be wrong with your set up or unit. | | Offline

| Hit Alt/return at the same time. You have to keep holding Alt key down. The running applications are shown. Some have to be open all the time (phone, messages, homescreen, browser, BB messenger). Try that. I don't know where the Alt key is on the storm.

| On the Storm, you just need to press and hold the BB key down for a few seconds and the application list pops up. | | Offline

I did that... press and hold the blackberry button.... closed some apps that were running. Will monitor... although it is still going crazy with the constant communication. and I have full 1XEV, and full signal strength. | | Offline

| check your data usage on your vzw account and see if it's an outrageous amount, that could give you an indication data is being transferred. Otherwise, contact Tech Support and see what can be worked out. | | Offline

Close 'em all I say, except the Big 5 you can't close. the arrow thing shouldn't happen constantly. That's wrong.

| Just got off the phone with Verizon, and the rep stated that RIM can push OTA updates on the Storm... which is something that they didn't do with previous models. She said that the large data usage times was RIM pushing out an update.
A. I don't know if I buy this explanation.
B. Does anybody know that, if this is the case, how I can turn that feature off?

| I'm not buying it, if that was the case, a good number of folks would be getting it as well. Call again, each rep have a different level of knowledge and some are more than willing to work through the issue, otherwise ask for tech support for bb. | | Offline

| I wouldn't buy it either. They push little diddly apps like Facebook and stuff (and you can't delete them either-bad Verizon) but I doubt a whole OS update. For that they warn you not to have your battery die or it'll mess up the phone. I'd inquire again, and make sure they send you to a BB dude/duderino after you start with the Vzn dude/dudette

| I'm not really sure if I buy verizon's explanation either. In my experiences they are pretty notorious at making up excuses. I was actually looking at getting this phone, but I sure hope it doesn't do that in my area. Please keep this updated with what you find out, in case something like this were to happen to me or other future customers. In the mean-time, as ridiculous as it may be you could always buy an extra battery ( eAccess eStore - BlackBerry D-X1 Battery). | | Offline

| Alright, I think Verizon sold me... about 30 minutes after I got off the phone with them yesterday, the data transfer stopped.
When it stopped my battery was at about 70%.
I didn't charge it because I wanted to see if it would start again... I had minimal use for the rest of the eveninig. I woke up this morning at 0500 and checked it and it was at 65%.
I then charged it to 100% and now, 3 hours later, it is at 95%, with pretty heavy use. Approximately 15 minutes on phone, some web surfing and a lot of texting.
So was Verizon right? Beats the heck out of me, but I can tell you that I am extremely happy with it now. It is significantly faster now, and the battery is holding up fine.
So... hope that helps. | | Offline
