Question Storm already fried...?

Please Login to Remove!

So I did a complete battery pull after reading about how it would resolve some issues I was having and clear it up. When I put the battery back in, the storm would not reboot no matter which buttons I pressed. I don't get any sort of white screen like some do, mine just stays black and the red light flashes off and on.

It had a fully charged battery when I did the battery pull and I have tried everything from plugging it into the charger to plugging it into the usb cable to trying another battery pull...

When I plug the phone into the USB port, it makes the sound as if the phone is being disconnected and reconnected over and over and my desktop manager simply can't locate the device.

I searched around the internet for ways to fix this but haven't found anything that works yet. I was prepared to try to reinstall the OS on the phone via the loader but can't seem to find where to download the Storm OS for Verizon anywhere...

Please help :(

You can use the one posted on this site. It's from Vodafone, but you need not use a Verizon OS exclusively, as all OS's are made by RIM.

It does sound like you've lost the OS by your symptoms.

If you are installing the battery, the unit should power up by itself.

if that doesnt resolve your issues, try leaving it connected to the charger for 20 mins, sometimes if the battery is completely empty, it wont turn on even if plugged in, so give it a chance to charge back up.

Are you sure that will be the case? The Vodafone Storm is slightly different that the Verizon Storm (Because of the CDMA bands obviously). Won't putting a GSM OS on a CDMA/GSM device cause some functionality issues? Just like you shouldn't install an 8330 OS on an 8310.

Not according to the guys with thousands of posts on here no. An OS is an OS is an OS. It does not matter the radio type. You MUST match the model number however.

No dice on leaving the battery out for a full 10 minutes and then trying it. I am going to leave it charged in for a bit and if that doesn't work, I guess I will have to reinstall the OS?

I found a site on crackberry where it shows me step by step how to reinstall an OS on a BB.. I'm just a bit clueless/noob to know where to find the OS to install. Anyone know of where I can find the OS (either Vodafone or Verizon I guess?) to make these changes?

Thanks in advance!

Well then it wouldn't work..
Verizon = 9530
Vodafone = 9500

I understand that an OS is an OS. We use a different carriers OS all the time, but the model numbers aren't the same. Thus the reason for a 9530 OS and a 9500 OS for stickies on the top of the thread:

Thank you... I didn't realize I copied the wrong one

The Storm and Bold are both proving tricky to provide advice for without having actually played with one. They both seem to have broken a few long standing assumptions.

Indeed they have! The BlackBerry world is getting turned on it's side. Especially the Storm. That one is breaking all the rules!
