Default Mute during call!!

Please Login to Remove!

Has anyone else constantly been muting calls with their face while on the phone. I was shocked to not see that complaint yet. My face is constantly pressing the mute button on the screen when I am on a call. Is there any way to correct this through a setting or something? Can I remove that button from the screen?

That is a problem that I've had too. Also, I'll hit the speaker phone button.

If you are on a long call, you could escape out to the homescreen and continue the call... - but, I think the best solution would be to have Verizon change the buttons so you have to double-tap/click the button to activate it.

ok, so I have noticed either the speakerphone or mute buttons get highlighted, but that does not activate either function, unless you press the screen down, so this is not an issue for me, possibly try not to press too hard against the screen while on the phone.

I think it happens more if your hands are tied up, and you have the phone on your shoulder to your face. That would give more pressure. Still is a horrific design to have those buttons that easily accessible while on a call. I thought the button on the upper right (opposite the lock button) of the phone was a mute button?

I guess this is why VZ is pushing that bundle that includes the Jawbone so heavily...

Muting happens to me all the time, I just taught myself to hold the phone with my hand instead of propping it up with my shoulder.

I keep muting at call start, kindof stupid as there is no audible confirmation.

Same with going through menu systems (without speakerphone) .. tendancy to skip menus through erroneous key presses.

Yeah, I am trying to use my hand more, but you know how it is getting ready for work, and they are calling you already while getting dressed or something, feeding the baby etc. Keep getting back to the shoulder somehow. Driving me crazy....

Ahh!, the Cheek - Mute function. It appears that several of you have offered suggestions for preventing this well thought out function to manifest itself. I agree, the problem is you. You know the one. The I'm so busy that I cannot take the time to relax, take a deep breath, and hold that phone at least 1cm from my face. You know them, those high cheekbone types, or worse yet, fat faced Americans! Its your fault! Not the fault of those skinny faced, yoga practicing, relaxed software engineers at RIM.

I jest. This is the single most annoying thing about this phone. I will persevere, I always do, and I am usually rewarded. Please fix this obvious flaw!!!!!!!!!
