Thumbs up New BB owner. . .

Please Login to Remove!

Hello everyone. . . I picked up the Strom for my first BB device. . good idea, bad idea? Not sure yet. . . What I am sure of is the confusion the device brings to the new owners. . . or maybe just me.

Couple questions if anyone would like to help me out.

1. What is this "hostler" everyone is talking about? Another device that needed picked up that didn't come standard with the phone from Vrz?
2. The top "mute" button. . . does that mute calls or all sounds? When I hit mine it doesn't to anything. ??
3. I can't download the Verizon contact updater as i did with all my other phones. . how do i get my contacts transfered over?
4. What's is "Sound Profile Normal"

I'll stop there for now, don't want to be that annoying new guy.

A standard BB holster has a magnet which will put the BB to sleep, less power drain
Mute will mute the calls
Not sure about the contact updater...im sure someone will chime in.
The profile is to customize how you want to be notified or not. So, there is normal, vibrate, etc. You can also create a custom one to your liking, led off, vibrate only, ring, etc.

To add as I played with mine a bit more...

If you hold down the mute button, it will change the profile to vibrate while at the home screen.

ok. thanks!

Another question if you guys don't mind.

I just recieved a text message from one of my friends that isn't in my contact list. With a non black berry phone there was an option in the list to save contact. I can't seem to find this in the options on the BB.

Can this be done?

Yes, you can click on the number, make sure it is highlighted, then press menu, and scroll down to add to contacts.

You should keep the "radio" on if you want to make/receive calls/text messages/e-mails. Anything that has to have a signal from Verizon won't be able to come through with the "radio" off... In other words if you turn the radio off you can still use your device for watching videos listening to music playing games anything that doesnt pertain to having a signal.

Correct, some Airlines ask you to turn your cell phones off, turning the radio off would be doing the same thing that way your still able to play games, videos, music, view pictures and so forth and so on.

Mute button does not mute calls. It mutes the speaker when you are viewing media with audio.

He is talking about Verizon's back up assistant, and it is not available on the Storm, or any Blackberry. Take your phones back to Verizon and have them transferred for you. They were supposed to do that when you got your phone, no excuses.

The radio is for your network. You turn it off, no calls, texts, or data.
