| clicking the display every footstep Please Login to Remove! I have the storm in my jeans and every footstep i click the screen, are there more users having this "problem"? (The screen side looks to my leg, because it's saver for the display.)
I think this is bad for the screen and for battery, because every click the display lights up.
Is there any solution? (no big leather case,...) | Offline

E- | do you have a Storm?
how do I enable the sleep function?
holding down mute (as on my 8830) does not enable standby...
oh, and... me too! i think the constant clicking is leading to the suckish battery life...

You can put it to sleep by pressing the top left of the case where it curves. This will not stop the screen from being depressed but it should stop the device from responding to the clicks. | Offline

| Thats;
The top left of the phone is the lock, but the screen still recognizes the clicks which still activates the screen. You would think, holding the lock button down for a certain amt of time would put it to sleep or have an option at the menu. | Offline

"Lock the screen
You can lock your screen to avoid clicking the screen accidentally.
Press the Lock key on the top of your device.

| the screen does lock when i hit the lock button...
i think what we're talking about here is the "standby" function which is/was invoked on other models by holding the mute button for a short time.
after entering standby, the only way to return from standby was to hit the mute button again.
the lock button on the top of the storm functions like the lock app icon on all the BBs ive used: hit lock, the device locks, screen dims, then goes black, then a press of any button (including the screen) will cause the screen to turn back on, and a popup will appear with "unlock, emergency call, cancel"
lock =/= standby

I've been used to carrying in my pants for years. And then the problem is that if you get the rubberized cover, it pulls the bills out of my pocket with the phone.
I got a holster, and am going to try and get used to it. I know, I know... I hated the idea. One advantage is that it puts the phone to sleep every time you put it in the holster, which helps battery life. It also reminds me I need to lose a few pounds, because sometimes the clip is uncomfortable.
I'm afraid this is just not the right phone if your highest priority is using your pocket to carry a cell phone.

Are there any out there besides the seidio one?
Oh, and that 6305 that you used way back when was actually a 6035... :-p

I really hope there is a solution besides the holster option..... I associate holsters with pocket protectors, fanny packs and MembersOnly jackets. | Offline

I bought the one Verizon had in the store and I have to say it's easy in and easy out... I grab it right at the earphone jack and it's easy to get out. Whether I will want to wear a holster every day is another story. But it is easier than getting it out of my pocket.

| even with other blackberries, when pressing the mute button to go into standby mode the screen will still come on when a button is pressed. it usually comes on with the message "press the mute key to exit standby mode". with the whole screen being a button i'm sure the storm probably comes on to show this message fairly often. | Offline
