I couldn't get the tap key board to work properly. These settings fixed my issue. Plus I made the font larger to 11 and it really helped. thanks

After reading all the suggestions on changing the setting for the keyboard, I decide to try 100/100/6/Fast. It improved my ability to type messages far more than I expected. Life is good.

Rotate your phone to landscape and from the main menu 1. click the BB button 2. select opitions. 3 click " set homescreen layout".

sure there's another way to do it but I stumbled upon this one.

Thanks! I thought I had gotten the hang of typing on the Storm down as best I could, but after changing the settings, I can type just as fast as I was able to type on my Curve. Yay!

I just tested it with the hover set to 1000, and I only had to hold my finger there for three to four seconds. That's really not that bad at all.

Trying out the new settings and seem to be great when typing in both portrait mode and landscape mode. Might change the hover and interval settings like some others have done later if it becomes an issue, but love the typing on my Storm NOW!!! Can type as fast if not faster than my pearl.

Wow glad I took one more look on the forums. Was about to get one at the Verizon by my house and the didn't have the bit one get one free offer. The girl at the desk had one so I asked her how she liked it and she said she would not recomend it for just this reason did not ask if she new bout the forums but obviously she didn't or she may have known bout this. Was playin with a store model at the Verizon across town and was not impressed either. Very unresponsive also had a hell of a time trying to navagate it. Almost out me off from getting it but thought eh with all new things you gotta get used to it. Then stumbled on this and many other threads like it. I can say I now have a new outlook on the storm and will be getting two right off the bat. At the store in Whitehall PA they have a buy one get one free deal right for 199.00 now with the 2 year new contract and the addons must go with it but its what I wouldve got anyway so its a go for me.
One more thing zkyevolved howd that dual htc touch work out for you was checkin it out awhile ago but could not find nuthin out bout it online.

Fantastic. I have been using the original settings listed (post #1) however have now changed to 100/100/6 and I find that typing is much more responsive.

My first post on here and im very happy i registered, these settings have done the business i can type with out error and having to go back. Nice one !

After having the Storms for a week and a half, one wasnt as responsive as the other. The business card (folded) did the trick. NICE! I spend $200 for the phone and still have to put paper in the phone for it to work properly. I considered exchanging it but that seems more like a hassle to set everything I've done back up on a new device.

because of this reason, i want to find a way to have the SureType (shared key per two characters) enabled when in landscape mode so i can type easier...the qwerty keyboard is too small for me still

any ideas? i've heard that some of the later versions of the OS enabled this feature or some similar feature...

the tap and hover intervals are in milliseconds it appears...

so 1000 = 1000 ms = 1 second
200 = 200 ms = 0.200 of a second...

otherwise it doesn't make much sense why they would put the "levels" of the setting in denominations of 100

Sometimes my typing is delayed but I am uncertain if it is related to the memory/system or my settings. I previously found another post that recommended 250 - 399 - High and it's been working for me aside from this issue.

I just attempted to do this and my Storm.. which is about a month old does not show thos commands. When I go to options I get downloads, 2 rows, change wallpaper and reset icon arrangement. That is it.. did I forget or not download something when I bought it? I am not even sure what storm I have.. I am thinking the 9500 but not sure.
