Default Browser Push

What is a Browser Push? If I turn it off, is that bad? I do not want applications pushed on my storm if I do not want them. Some apps are useless to me....like rhapsody. I have my own music. Thanks

Applications and data will only be pushed to your BB if you sign up or opt in to receiving those items. Usually, there are quite a few steps involved when signing up for things to be pushed to your BB.

The Rhapsody Icon shows up if you installed the new OS that has been leaked. This does not mean it is installed. I checked. Verizon is pushing its offerings. Anyway, I just highlighted the icon, hit the menu button, and selected hide. This removes the icon from the display.

Wirelessly posted (8310; RammerJammer!)

Browser push is NOT for pushing applications but rather some alerts and notifications can be set to push bowser pages to your BlackBerry, such as some weather alerts can be pushed, where the "message" is actually a web or browser page.

Those are the services that allow for alerts and messages to be pushed to your phone. You would need to sign up for a pushed service (like AccuWeather.com) for your phone to receive something. I do not know for sure, but I think RIM has it locked down pretty good so that the only way something will be pushed to your phone is in response to your requesting it. I have had a BB since 2003 and have never had anything pushed to my phone that was unwanted. It was only after I had requested the push.
