Default What Do I Do First?

Please Login to Remove!

OK, first off, I am a total BB newbie. Never owned one. I did own a Palm Treo for a while so I know a little (very little) about smart phones. But in all reality, I am totally new to all of this.

I have been reading things on here for the past week or so and trying to get a grasp on what to expect. My Storm will be waiting for me when I get home from work this (Weds) afternoon. I know that the book will talk me through activating the phone (installing the SIM, battery, etc.), but that stuff aside, what do I do first once it is up and running?

Meaning, as a Mac user with no PeeCee access, can I do the .75 upgrade I keep reading about? Should I try to do that before I input any of my contact information? Will there be Mac software in the box to allow me to download my contacts from Entourage 2008?

Thanks in advance for the help!

You will need PC access to do the desktop upgrade. Check your device first off to see if the OS is truly shipped with OS 4.7.0.65, if so, upgrade to .75. (look at options > about).
I would do the upgrade first, users say it really makes a difference.
PocketMac should be in the disk, but I would advise you download the latest version:

Good luck!

So the only way to upgrade the OS is with a PC -- running the download manager software? This cannot be done on a Mac?

The first thing you should do is read the User Guide which will be on the CD that comes with the phone. Read all 200+ pages. Once you have done that verything will make much more sense.

As far as upgrades, you won't lose your contacts, email or even settings through an upgrade. That is all saved and reloaded as part of the process.

you know, if the rumor is true, and the over the air update will be out on the 8th, you might as well hold off for the official update
