Default Verizon Tech support

Just got off the phone with them and I'm not too impressed. Some of you may have seen my posts about a problem with MMS texts. Basically when I go to a website, find a ringtone that I like, and then send it to my phone, I can't hear it when I first open it up. It's only after I play with the volume keys, as in going up and down, does it kick in. I could already have the volume set high to begin with, but I still wouldn't hear it unless I press the volume key either up or down. The guy with tech support said there was basically nothing he could do. What the heck is tech support for if he can't do anything? Pretty poor customer service if you ask me. He said I might go to blackberry.com and I might find something there. Wow, not good in my opinion.

Their support SUCKS and always has. I just got into the whole blackberry thing, store rep told me I could use it as a replacement for my verizon air-card that we use for our laptops. We ordered 6 storms and accessories. They come in and we are in the store for 2 hours getting them activated, then when we ask them to show us how to use them for a modem, they couldn't figure it out. Called tech support and they didn't know either.

This Friday we are all taking them back to Verizon and telling them to take their tech support and shove it up their ass. If I provided thier level of support I would be out of business.

Not unusual for any carrier.
You should call back and try another tech support rep. Some are much more competent than others. Sounds like you got unlucky this time.

Or you could just hit this site first. Download the Verizon Access Manager software from their website to install on the laptop. This will facilitate the IP modem setup you need.

Though I bet they didn't tell you that tethering option is an additional fee....

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

Their tech support as marginal at best. That is why and how I discovered sites such as this.

You have to keep in mind, usually the "tech support" people are people in 3rd world countries reading a script after they plug in your problem on a computer. So I wouldnt expect to get 5 star service. But thats why we have BBForums.com best support ever!

True, I am finding this site and it's members to be a great resource. Blackberry should pony up some dough for the bandwidth and labor involved with maintaining this site;)
