First Business Day with the Storm I bought the Storm the day that it was released. I waited seven months for this device to come out. This device was one of the main reasons why I did not keep the iPhone. I was on vacation when I bought the device. The OS lag and the bugs did not bother me since I was mostly using it for entertainment and testing purposes. I am a power user and usually try to get all the use that I can out of my Blackberries. Today was really the first day that I used the Storm for work. I became more and more disappointed in the device as the day went on. The device became simply almost unusable at one point. The more I asked the device to do, the more it spit back freezes and errors at me. The lag, which did not bother me greatly before, became extremely annoying. These are only my thoughts and observations; however, I think that the individuals that are not having issues with their devices are not using them enough. I know that RIM will resolve most of these issues however time is money. I think that some people are disappointed because we all have high expectations from RIM. This is only a compliment to a company that we admire and respect. Also, please remember that RIM has to work with big red, which is one of the hardest to work with in my opinion. Just my two cents. |
Have you upgraded the OS to 4.7.0.75? It addresses all of the issues you're complaining about. |

Just out of curiosity... why wait? There's no downside. |
New issues? 75 is a definite improvement - official or not. |

As long as you do a battery pull every couple of days, you'll be just fine. |

I am curious about that too. More than once I have "Muted" someone. |

All I can say is, I'd update to .75 if I could but I got no link to the leaked version for the 9500... |
If really want to see if it'll work for you, I'd recommend the following: - Upgrade to .75 ASAP - Once you've upgraded, give it about a week of full-on office use. It took me about a week to learn all of the new features, but the device was still really laggy. Then I upgraded to .75 and the lag pretty much went away. Since the upgrade, I have actually been able to use the device. Typing quickly & accurately has been the biggest problem, but I've been finding that as each day goes by, I'm typing faster and more accurately. Until about Tuesday, sending a message was a real PITA - to the point where I was sometimes sending messages from the desktop to avoid the frustration (kinda defeats the purpose of having a BB, no?). Things have only gotten better. Around 7:00 last night I banged out a pretty hefty reply on the 9530 quickly and accurately. Moral of the story: If you're interested in making it work, hang in there. Otherwise, just return it and get something else. |
In Germany, Vodafona released the 0.78 already. If anyone needs a link, give me some PM. |
