Default Storm and Ms Exchange?

Please Login to Remove!

Im getting conflicting answers at Verizon. I have an old treo that I am considering dumping for the Storm. My real concern is the ability to sync natively with my Exchange Server 2003, email, calendar, contacts, etc.

Can someone advise if the Storm would work in this environment?

Thanks

You need BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) to wirelessly sync your calendar, contacts, etc with Exchange.
There is no native sync between a BlackBerry and Exchange.

Without BES, you can only get wirleless email delivery.
All other sync needs to be done via USB cable.

Thank you for the great response. This is disappointing. I wonder how many users they would have if they would integrate active sync technology for MS Servers?

In any event, Im glad I didnt listen to Verizon, they promised me it would sync.

not as much as they get for having a BES in place for its Security and integration that it currently provides..

MS Push has nothing... GO BES!

If you have an exchange server, you can get a free 1 user license for BES.

I'd start with RIM sales. You can download the software but you will need a 1 user CAL key. I may have the terminology wrong, as technically I think they call this BPS? BlackBerry Professional Server...

In any event, you can get something for one user.

The BB site sells the software for 500 bucks for 5 licenses. No mention of anything else, free or otherwise.

Exchange Mobile Sync doesn't even compare to BES.

BES FTW.

Please be aware that you must be on the BES plan and not the BIS plan or you cannot activate your phone with the BES server .. even with the 1 free CAL. Verizon has it blocked.

They all do... BES typically will cost about $15 more per month than BIS alone.
