Presently my core device is the Bold which is a fantastic classic form factor BB. I also have a iPhone and Tuesday our back order of Storms came in. After reading such awful reviews I've decided to really spend time with the Storm and give it a good couple weeks before forming an opinion.
As soon I got the device I flashed the .75 OS onto it since the shipped OS seems to have many issues.
I will say coming from using the standard BB interface it's a very different feel to the device. I want to scream this thing is a POS but I find it always back in my hand and tweaking settings. I think the screen flip still needs a little work, the device seems to get stuck in a mode for longer then it should. I find my speed typing is way down, I make mistakes and it's hard to see where you are pressing using a two handed thumb method I'm used to.
I also almost killed myself in the car as this is really a two-handed device unlike all the other BB where you can pull off most functions one handed, blind as you "know" where keys are. (not condoning any usage while in motion)
I havn't really played with the media functions but the internet seems quick on Verizon's network.
So for now I'm going to go cold turkey and really give this device time (and RIM to work out the early kinks) - I'll update this thread as I have feedback |
I'm in the same boat as you, always get the newest device.
My Storm showed up yesterday morning, and I moved my service over to it after lunch. By 5:00 pm, I HATED the device.
After a few hours with it at home where it was quiet, and taking some tips off this forum, I can say that I'm now happy with it.
The thing I found is that for some of us who use a lot of shortcut keys rather than menus (C = Compose, P = Previous Day, etc.), it's slower to use as you don't have these options, or would have to pop up the menu and go into landscape mode to use them, but I think I might be able to get used to it.
