Default Phone turns itself off after a few minutes ...

Don't laugh. Okay, feel free to laugh. I'm completely new to BB. Anyway, phone shuts itself off after about 3 minutes of no usage. Can't figure out how to adjust.

Any reason not to leave 'on' all the time? Will battery wear out fast? Is there not a 'standby' mode where power is off unless you get a message?

Are you saying the phone goes into Stand By Mode or actually turns off? If it powers off then you have a problem because that is not a normal function.

My mistake. Thought it had shut off, but you are correct ... in standby. How can I adjust how long before standby?

Not sure on the Storm but on the Curve it's under Options>Screen/Keyboard> I believe you're looking for the backlight timeout.

The max you can adjust is having the screen on for 2min. The longer you have it on the more it eats your battery life so it's a trade off. I usually push it out and bring down the brightness by half.

Also explore the Auto On/Off funtion as it's a great way to save some battery life during your down time.
