Default Email Syncronization - 12-06-2008, 10:29 AM

Hi,

I am new to the BB world and having been a little frustrated with the constant lockup and reboots of my WM device, purchased a Storm.

So far I really like it, and understanding the limitations of not haveing BES, I dont understand one issue.

While at my office, email that is read, moved or removed from Outlook seemes to always stay on my BB as an unread email; it never seems to sync like my WM device did until I physically do the same on the BB.

I recieve upwards of 50 emails per day and this could really be a problem for me. Am I missing something?

When you set up your BIS account did you enable the synchronization of deleted items between the mailbox and the handheld? What type of BIS email connection is it (POP, IMAP, OWA)? POP accounts generally take the longest to synchronize and will not happen the instant you delete an item from your desktop mail client.

If I delete an email item it will also remove itself from the BB in a few moments. But if I just simply read a message in Outlook, the message never marks itself as "read" on the BB.

At the end of a day at the office I will end up with 40 or 50 unread emails on my BB that I have already read on my computer.

This happens even if I use the DM to syncronnize with Outlook and is a very very annoying situatiojn to think I have to mangage two inboxes; th eone on my computer and then again the one on my BB!

Only certain accounts will wirelessly sync. Gmail and Yahoo come to mind. Gmail also has IMAP, which I have heard works well.

Otherwise, for wireless sync, you need a BES, or Blackberry Enterprise Server, and not BIS, Blackberry INTERNET service.

How long before the gmail inbox sync's with the storm? Will it sync the complete email box?
