Default Password Protect For Storm?

Please Login to Remove!

Over the course of the few days that I've had my storm, I've been trying my hardest to determine what the best letter combination is for my password. Its frustrating because in landscape mode, obviously the form of input is different than when it's in portrait mode. When I'm in SurePress, sure, its fine, I'll type in whatever letter, i choose on the left side of the keyboard and whatever letter I choose on the right side of the keyboard, but when I'm using the predictive text keyboard, it takes a different number of presses to get these letters, while especially having to work with the fact that they turn into asterisks a couple of seconds after.

Ultimately, what I'm trying to get at is... is there a way where we can get a number pad to show up at all times... like how it is on our rival iPhone? Or is there a third party software that will enable our device to have a swipe passcode protection like there is on the G1?

If anyone hasnt seen the G1's passcode swipe technology, its incredible. You just need to swipe a specific pattern... a pattern that corresponds with a set of dots that you assign or that is assigned to you (im not 100% sure... i've read about it though... and i've seen a password be entered before)

Say, you use the number 7? you trace the dots on the screen with your finger, and you're in. No one knows that but you. This doesnt use any keyboards... but takes advantage of the touch screen technology.

Do you think we'll be getting an option like this in the future? Maybe third party software that flawlessly integrates itself with the blackberry/vzw software?

OR.

Is anyone using an EFFECTIVE passoword that works in both landscape and portrait mode?

Any ideas?

Edit: Okay... so its a combination of nine dots... so you can draw a G for example. Cool enough.

I agree, the current storm password protect is annoying. Not only that, but once you assign a password, then it wants it for a lot of things other than unlocking the keyboard. It asks for it during a software upgrade for example. WHY?

I've turned off password protection for these reasons. I'd be much more satisfied with a simple numeric only password and a forced numeric pad.

Please guys... leave your password protection ON.
If you lose your phone somewhere (a bar, a train, a taxi) whoever finds it will have access to your email, your calendar, and all your friend/family contact info. That's bad.

I agree that the password entry is a pain, but at least for the safety of all the info that's stored on the device, turn on and use the password protection.

I picked a random combination of the 9 number keys (that actually become letters in the password) and I just remember what they are and I am able to enter them in 123-letter mode and in full qwerty mode.

USE PROTECTION!
