Default Paris and no data services...

Please Login to Remove!

Can't tell you how bummed I am!!! Got the Storm and went to Paris for a day. Since it was so short I didn't take my laptop and wanted to rely on it for E-mail and data...
Well, I get there and turn it on... 3g (small g) and no data services.
I had called Verizon and had everything supposedly set up...
I just got back this evening and tech support closes at 11...
So before I call in the morning... anyone have any ideas?
I had that data services set up to be on even when roaming... I tried switching networks, selecting 2G, 3G, everything I could think of...
Thanks,
I appreciate it!

Do you have an international data plan?

I'd call VZW's Global Cust support if I were you. They'll get you up & running quickly.

Verizon chronically forgets that there is a world outside of North America. Keep calling them until it is resolved; try a battery pull reset to get the radio going.

Yeah, before I went I called them up and told them I was going to France the next day and wanted to use my phone. The girl really was great, said everything was set up, even unlocked my phone when I asked her if she could...
I'll give them a call today and see what they say...
Thanks for the replies!

Make sure they double checked that your SIM card was activated and that you have the international data plan. I used my old 8830 internationally quite often - but always had to call and make sure the SIM was activated. They would seem to "forget" that part, unless I explicitly asked.

Well, just off the phone with Verizon. They say everything was activated correctly, the sim card and data plan, and they don't know why it didn't work.
So no I'm in a quandry. I need an international phone, but don't want to use this one if they can't get it to work for me, and I won't be traveling out of the country again in the next two weeks (when my 30 day trail is up).
Hmmmmm

If you are still in Paris, and the phone has been unlocked, you can grab a cheap pre-paid SIM card....

Got back last night... If I would have done that, would my blackberry data services worked, or just the phone features that already worked?
Thanks,
Tom
