Default Roxio / iTunes / Mac / Music Tags

Please Login to Remove!

I have an interesting problem, and not sure if I'm doing this right. If someone can point me in the right direction that'd be great.

I'm on a Mac, and I have VMWare installed w/ XP that I only use for my blackberry 9530.

I installed the Desktop Manager and Roxio Media Manager.

I have the Media Manager monitoring my iTunes music folder on my Mac and importing and cataloging the songs into the Media Manager. My iTunes is perfectly set up w/ Album art and correct artist/title tags.

When I go to move music into my 9530, some of the music tags are incorrect and not showing on the berry, yet they're showing perfectly in iTunes AND on the Media Manager. It's not all the music, only a few songs and I can't seem to get the 9530 to recognize the tags.

Any thoughts on what I can do to fix this?

Also, before anyone responds with "just drag & drop files" or "turn on mass storage", I can't. My BES restricts those activities, so the ONLY way to move media onto the device is through Roxio.

I don't have "this" problem...

But, I will say this about iTunes and tags...

I have roughly 11,000 songs from my wife and my collection... I've had to rebuild my library a few times because it gets flubbed up... Well, I was sad to discover that after I'd spent many hours correcting tags... That iTunes doesn't write all the information including the album covers into the files... they store it in their library I think.

So, a ton of my tracks have no album cover, no album title, no genre, forgot what year they were recorded, etc...

It's damn annoying...

So, this is probably why you're experiencing this w/ your setup... the tag info isn't in the file. To test this, open your track in a different player and see what info shows up...

Is there an ID3 editor for mac that can scan my entire library and connect to the internet and apply the correct information if it's missing?

I don't know... i found one for the PC once, but I didn't like it at all...

So, I have to manually look up the info and fix them...

I also use a product to make "intelligent" mixes (got it before "genius" - which I don't find all that smart since it's only based on song title and they don't actually analyze the tracks. The 3rd party app I use for that is musicip (MusicIP: Your World. Amplified.)

Oh, and it will attempt to repair tags if they have info in their Database - but doesn't do album covers (shows 'em but they don't correct them).

I don't think they have Mac support.

EDIT - Correction, they do have mac support and the tag fixing is part of the free application...

Thanks a lot for your help, I used your advice and found a program called Jaikoz Audio Tagger which (at this point) seems to be doing the ID3 tags automatically. I have a library of approximately 8800 songs so it'll take a few hours to correct the whole thing.

I will report back and let you know my results. But if this works, it'll solve a lot of issues for many Mac users.

stay tuned...
