yeah, i've seen a few people say they got vlingo working, but when people ask them how they set it up, they never respond.

me, i tried installing the 4.6 version... i had to disable compatibility mode to get through most of the setup wizard. after i finished setting up the (left side) convenience key and got to where you're supposed to test by saying "websearch concert tickets", every time i tried to hold down the left convenience key, it would act like i had just pressed and released it, even though i was still holding it down.

I'd love to get it working, so if anyone has any tips, please let us all know ;)

Rob

There is another post on this forum about setting up Vlingo on the BB Storm. I wish I could remember exactly what I did...I think I just followed the directions in the post.
I will say, I had tried to install it previously and couldn't get it to work properly. So, I deleted Vlingo using DM once or twice. For whatever reason, the 3rd time I tried it, using the directions on the post, it began to work perfectly.

ah, thanks for the link.... the Recording permission is what I was missing. Woo hoo!

Now if only we would get news one of these days that 3rd party apps will be able to start supporting the Storm's GPS, it'll be the best Christmas ever ;)

Default I may have the fix

When going through the setup process i would get stuck at the record step "search for concert tickets".

This is how I made it work.

Go to options then advanced options to apllications - Highlight vlingo - Hard key menu- edit permissions. Use the drop down menu for recording. You should see two choces for allow. Make Sure The Bold Type Allow is set. back on out and save. The program should now allow you to finish the setup.

I have used vlingo on my 8830 and think it's great. It seems to work very well on the storm, but a little slow. The storm release hopefully will be faster.
If it wasn't for vlingo I may have returned my storm. I hate typing on it. I like everything else about the phone, especially the display. I think vlingo is an amazing program. I have about a 95% accuracy with it. Much better than I can type on a smart phone.

I have one issue with vliingo. Version for 4.6 don't have "automatic" setting in connection type. So when you have no 3G you have no connection... annoying.

Regards
