This has probably been discussed but...

I can't seem to get my Storm to give audio alerts consistently. When I receive email or text messages, I sometimes get the sound alert and sometimes I don't. I'm not sure what's causing the issue or whether this is a "known" problem. It doesn't seem to matter which profile I use.

Any suggestions?

Ugh, there are a lot of profile issues. Including just using the wrong ringtone altogether.

Yes, my audio alerts are inconsistent too.

My Level 1 alert don't work. Been using them since my 7290 with the same list of people in the company. Went to a 7100, no problem, 8707, no problem, 8800, to an 8830, all no problem, go to the 9530 No Level 1 alerts. I have checked the list, checked the sound, one of the people in the list works, the rest do not. The one that does work is an internet email address, my wife, all other people on the list on the company servers do not. It's a real pain!

I have this problem too. I've noticed that sometimes (particularly with SMS alerts) my storm will make a clicking noise instead of the alert I have set.

Same here. It's almost like a grab bag as to which sound you will get next. When I get a sound I don't expect I check all my profiles and settings and the sound I really want is there, but when a message comes in who knows what I'm going to get.

It is clear from this thread and a number of others that profiles and alerts just don't work right yet. My guess would be that RIM sees this as a lower priority issue than the others it has addressed to date. While I don't have anything specific, I would expect a fix in the next update or two. These functions have been part of the BB OS since the beginning and, as any programmer knows, they are not rocket science to implement. But fixing the problem is obviously time consuming or it would have been done already. While I agree with everyone that it is really annoying to not have both these functions available, it is also not the end of the world as some of the other problems were. I suggest we give RIM a little more time to work tis out before we really begin screaming. 73

I am experiencing the same issue as well. It seems as when my Storm goes to sleep I don't receive my audio email alert notification. Does anyone have an update as to a potential fix or workaround?
