I got my storm (9530) with Verizon on the launch date. As with many it had memory leaks and slow everything. I upgraded to the 4.7.0.75 (4.0.0.94) and I noticed a few things that I have a few questions on:

1) When I power off the phone, I have to at work due to "0" reception in the warehouse, I am asked to auto switch to GSM based on coverage area. This NEVER happened before the software upgrade. I have tried picking "Yes" and "No" to make it stop asking. Its quite annoying but I can deal with it if no one knows how to get rid of it. Im not going to use GSM at any point and even if I did I can just switch it in the Network Options.

2) The signal indicator changes a lot now. I never noticed it before but it shows the standard 1XEV or just 1X but from time to time the 1XEV changes to 1Xev. Yes "lowercase", I do not know what this is or even if it matters at all. Just seemed kind of odd.

If anyone knows what or why these things are happening, please reach out and let me know what you've done to fix or deal with it.

O and please do not just respond with "Why not upgrade to the newest software" I am willing to just wait for the official software release. I can deal with these short comings, for now.

1Xev has to do with the 3g. if its lowercase i dont think you can access any internet things (email, MMS, Browser). I just activated my phone and had lowercase 1Xev until i turned it off and on again then i had all the 3g tools.

When you power the phone on for the first time, the Storm asks if you'd like it to automatically select CDMA or GSM based on availability. It sounds to me like that auto-select has been turned off somehow and it's therefore asking you every time. I bet there's a menu option somewhere (I'm back in a Curve now and can't look for you).
