I have been searching the net and have found a few people who, like me, are reporting that they are unable to view the Gmail application in landscape mode.

There seems to be two camps on this issue: those who claim that they CAN see it in landscape, and those who can't. So it seems that it is possible, but I have yet to find any information that provides an explanation or a fix for those who can not see the application in landscape.

Any help here would be appreciated.

To be clear, I am talking about the application that you download from Gmail and NOT the browser based Gmail.

I found the Gmail app to kind of being a waste actually. I just set up my Gmail through the Email set up when I first got my BB Storm and I have had no problems. I did however, download the Gmail app just to try it out. Not using the App just seems to be a lot faster then using it. But I didn't have any problems viewing the App in landscape.

thanks, you offer further evidence that the gmail app works in landscape. hopefully someone can tell me why mine dosent.

You need to ensure you have compatibility mode off on the phone. Options-> advanced options-> applications and choose the gmail app and hit your blackberry button and choose from the menu button disable compatibillity mode.

I like the app alot better than a BIS account since my contacts are present with the app.

Thanks Falcon! Your fix worked perfect with one excetion: Once I completed the steps that you outlined, I needed to do a battery pull. I now have my Gmail app displaying in landscape mode, thanks so much for the help!

No problem, I ran into the same issue with my app. I forgot the good 'ol bb standyby of "if it don't work,pull the battery" "fix"...

The fix worked for the landscape display, however, NOW I cannot scroll through the messages to select older messages to open. The screen works fine after I click for the menu and am able to scroll but once out of the menu, no more scrolling. Any suggestions?!

I can confirm that the app works in both portrait and landscape, with full scroll and selection.
