I have had my storm for about a week, but for some reason, when i get an alert (SMS message, e-mail), the sound doesn't always play. It vibrates every time, but the alert sound will not follow. I have it set to normal mode, so I am wondering if I have a defective phone, or if it is a setting i am missing. please help!

I'm not sure if you are just missing something, but what you could try is creating a custom profile. Do this by clicking the "Sounds" icon, scrolling to the bottom and clicking "Custom Profiles". Then click "Add Custom Profile" and go from there. I use a custom profile and have never had any problems. Never gave the "normal" profile a chance. FYI if you click the screen when it vibrates, before it has a chance to play a sound, it will not play the sound.

i actually went to tech support at verizon. they could not understand it either so they exchanged it for me. too bad cuz i got a screen that it looser than my old one. the sound is better but it still does not play sometimes. if anyone could help me figure out why, that would be great. i created a custom profile and it still fails to make the noise after the vibrate every once in a while.

This happens with my phone too. I think it's a software bug.

im hoping it would get fixed with the next software update from verizon. its kind of annoying sometimes, cuz i will not know if i get an alert if my phone isnt in my pocket

I have noticed on mine that sometimes there is a SEVERAL second delay, like up to 7 or 8 seconds after my screen wakes up and notifies me that there is a call/message before my ringtone will actually start to play. This seems like a software thing to me.

my screen doesn't light up when i get a message. is that supposed to happen or is it a setting i am missing. i really do not like this about this phone
