I have some hearing problems as well, mainly in my right ear thanks to a few trips to Iraq in 2003 and 2006. I have the same problem. What I have done with my Storm is I make sure that I have it vibrate and then ring for all notifications and I turned the volume up the whole way. I'm using a MP3 file I got from Homestarrunner.com as my ringer and with the changes I made, I'm able to hear it ring if it is on my right side with little difficulty.

I made my own ringtones using Audacity. I was able to increase the volume to exactly what I wanted. I've got some loud ones now. Also make sure in your settings you have the volume set higher for your active ringtone.

Edited thread title to make it clearer at first glance for those who might be able to help.

Interesting coincidence. I, too, have some hearing issues (tinnitus thanks to Iraq) and could also use an ear piercing ringtone.. let me know what you find...
