Anyone else had trouble with their mini usb socket? What did you do to remedy it, besides returning the handset as I only have one phone.

Seems to be a problem with the contacts inside the socket.

Only had this once, and swapped the user's device for a spare.
Still have the broken Pearl (basically USB on BB never accepts that a sych/charge cable is attached. User was having to charge battery in external charger).
If I get time tomorrow, I might crack the Pearl open and see what is what.

Got my storm back from vodafone today. Apparently they put a new operating system on it. I will wait and see how this changes things now.

Ok, so far there are no issues re charging. However, now the backlight times out and won't come back on without a battery pull. Ffs! Starting to think its time to try and trade for an earlier model.

You might want to try loading a different OS on. I can't remember which build (or whether it was 9530 specific and I'm mixing them up) but there was one OS that had the backlight problem that I can recall.

Found a way around the problem. I've set backlight timeout to max, this works fine as my BB is either in use, in holster or on charge.
