Default Idle storm drained battery in 40 minutes?

Please Login to Remove!

Weirdo one here. I left my storm on the bed and went out for a bite to eat, came back about 40 minutes later, and it went from almost completely full to being drained down in the red zone. I picked it up and the screen was illuminated and the battery was VERY HOT. Ideas????

you very likely left applications and process working VERY hard in the background. Perhaps the browser on an active web page, a GPS application?

Hmmm, not really sure as it was on the main screen. Do the apps not close on their own when you return to the home screen by pressing the 'end call' button? If not, how do you actually close running apps in the background without powering off the device?

They do not close by pressing the end key. To close apps, you have to either hit the escape key until you are back to the home screen, or select the close option from the menu within the application.

I've had the same issues twice in the last week. I have to remember to make sure I close the browser... haha

Wirelessly posted

That pesky browser can eat up some battery life.

That's odd. I leave apps running all day and I've yet to see the red, battery low indicator on my Storm.

Additionally, all apps will not close unless you press the BB button and close / sign out of an application. The end button simply takes you back to the home screen and leaves the app running. Which is a good option if you like to leave messenger programs running.

The BB runs functions just like a MAC. You must manually close programs within the program menu before exiting.

Or for many of them, you can also hold down the escape key and it will function the same as if you hit menu > close. Not all of them (Slacker Radio comes to mind) but most.

Had no problem on mine either, and I don't usually "close" apps.
