| Vlings site says ... Quote:
At this time, vlingo runs on the 81xx series Pearl, the 83xx series Curve (except the 8350i with iDEN push-to-talk), and 88xx series World Edition devices. As we support new BlackBerry models, we will announce the support on our Web site. Though we do not yet formally support the Storm (95xx series), Bold (9xxx series), 8350i, or the Pearl Flip (8220), many users have reported that vlingo 2.0 runs successfully on these devices. While we can't promise that it will work for you, if you would like to try it, you can get it by requesting it from vlingo (get it here). We plan to support these devices in an upcoming release.
Some people running unsupported devices have encountered a 'Can't Record' error during Step 4 of vlingo Setup. If you decide to try vlingo and encounter this problem, see the response to "I'm getting a 'Can't Record' error during Setup Step 4. What should I do?' in the Other Problems section of this FAQ.
If we do not currently support the device or model you have and you would like vlingo to contact you when it becomes available, please fill out this form.

| I just installed this on my Storm. It does work, but it takes some getting used to to get through the menus. As fish2find said, it hasn't been released for the storm, but it does work. The tricky part is the ui is set up for a trackball, so imagine your screen is a trackball and scroll through the interface. I couldn't collapse the keyboard nor could i rotate the screen. It would have been ALOT easier to navigate the interface if i could. But, as i said, it seems to work great once you get it set up. Sure wish i would have installed this as soon as i got my phone. This is a 'Must Have' app, imo. | | Offline

| I've had vlingo on my Storm for a while. Generally, it works fine. However, if you do the wrong thing, it can easily fudge up your phone to point of having to do a battery pull. Or, at least, that was the case with some earlier versions of the Storm OS. I haven't done those "bad" things in vlingo to test it with the last few OS versions I have had.
The main thing that has always caused a problem for me is if I dictate some text for the body of the message, wait for it to translate it, then try to dictate some more, expecting it to append to what I already dictated. That would hose my phone up pretty much every time. But, if I dictate, wait for translation, then hit the Back key to erase it, then dictate again, it would work okay. Fine for starting over. Not so helpful for dictating a chunk at a time.

| vlingo looks like a pretty cool app....
thinking about it, if i had the option to speak my SMS rather than type it, i feel it would alter my message, so what i say might not be the same as what i'd type....

| Go into Options/Advanced Options/Applications. Touch (but don't click) vlingo. Press Menu key and choose "Disable Compatibility Mode".

| OK, done this, but now I can't get over the step 3 of the setup (the test of the convenience button) - both are setup to Nothing, but it keeps complaining "I didn't catch that - Either your side key is not set up or you are still holding the side key." Obviously, both keys are setup to Nothing and that's what they do outside the vlingo, however vlingo somehow doesn't pick them up. OS version 4.7.0.78.
Ideas?
Thanks,

| What I like about vlingo is the fact that I can hit the side button, say "call mom at home" and it is done immediately. So much easier than dialing the phone # or looking up the contact.....
Fine app!!!

Thanks,
Klaus | I believe you have to have only one of them set to "nothing" , My setup has the left set to nothing and the right set to camera. Hope this helps.........
