Exclamation What is the BEST Firmware for 9530?

Please Login to Remove!

I went from .76 to .99

.76 is stable but slow. Haven't kept up with the new releases but went to try .99 and it's just the damn same as the other releases. it freezes, you get app errors, and it reboots.

Now here's my question:

what is the BEST firmware (including beta and official) for the 9530?

I've heard of people saying "oh nothing's wrong with .99 it's great!" well that's BS, because if you install a crapload of apps like what u're suppose to do with a smart phone, you'll find that most of these beta releases will fail.

if you just use wussy stuff (email text and default boringness) then it probably won't crash.

But what's the point of using the storm for little stuff like that, it's suppose to be the "iPhone Killer" and it has been failing to proove that by 100 yards.

Best Firmware release please? or should I just admit that the Storm is a complete failure?

And why haven't there been any NEW OFFICIAL releases yet? WTF is RIM doing, [edited]?

I am pissed off.

It really is personal preference, what works best for you. I am having good results on a higher beta OS, you did not. Some device actually are reacting differently than others, and that probably has to do with what third party apps the user has loaded. If .76 was the best for you so far, then you should stick to .76

No duh. You are also quite lacking in the ability to review the multiple threads of discussion on each of the release versions.

That is up your carrier, Verizon. RIM has released almost a dozen new OS versions to them to review. They need to choose which.

Finally, please refrain from your profanities in this Forum. If you are simply unable to control your fingers' typing, you are not welcome here.

I've had my Storm for a little over a week now, and I have a number of 3rd party apps installed as well. With .75, which came on the phone, I have had no problems at all, no random reboots and no necessary battery pulls. My curiosity keeps telling me to upgrade to .99, but I don't see a reason to when there's a good chance it may make no difference or I may prefer .75 and have to revert back.

Honestly, I think you may have some unrealistic expectations. The Storm is very new. Some of these apps you're installing, if not most, may not be fully compatible. When the iPhone was brand new, there weren't nearly as many apps available as there are now. Give it time.

Verizon download website is down. Maybe they are getting ready to offer updated OS for Storm (fingers crossed)

CHILL

seriously. if you're going to be an early adopter, you should expect unrefined and buggy software. software always lags behind hardware. it'll probably be 6-12 months before the storm OS is really humming. and, btw, the first year of the iphone OS was no walk in the park, either.

.99 is excellent. I compared a Verizon rep's .75 with my .99 and there is a big difference in how smooth the .99 is. Of course, there are a lot of variables, but even both running Slacker and the browser, the .99 performed better. It will be great when they get the memory issues resolved, permanently.

I don't need to explain myself on reviewing beta OS's for they are Beta OS's.

I am a paying customer to your defective and half assed released products. You should not threaten your customers and honestly, you should be passing the aggrevated messages to your superiors so they can get to work and start perfecting this device.

I am not the only person who is not satisfied with this product. I just have the courage to speak up about it.

That's fine, I'll just toss this one back to my provider and pick up a 4th storm. I guess you people don't mind receiving batches among batches of returned Storms when you should be releasing them 100% functional in the first place.

This is why Canada never exports anything, because it's never done right in the first place.

Hey dude, one, i warned you.

Two, we are not RIM. You can threaten... and guess what--we don't care.

I am a volunteer here. But that still does not change what you are.

In about five minutes you will no longer have access to this site. Find another one which appreciates your threats.

Threats? you mean the truth. Go ahead, Ban me.

You can't ban me from the internet, and people will know the truth.

And you must be embarrassing yourself, because I am not American.

Your represent RIM by being a registered MODERATOR for the official blackberry forums.

Either way, you are a representative of BlackBerry and we'll see what you're superiors have to say about your wonderful moderation skills.

Look, stop focusing on defending yourself and slandering me.

You should be helping other customers.

Go do what a good mod does.

Mall security guard?

Your reading comprehension skills suck. You're freaking out and threatening people that have absolutely no connection to RIM and Blackberry other than the fact that they are Blackberry users just like you.

May I suggest therapy for your apparent anger issues?

No, it's more like a mall "ninja" security guard...

Actually, I'd suggest decaf or caffeine & sugar-free soda.

Ahh.. I am upset that I missed all of this in realtime and now he is probably already banned. I cannot believe that he thought this was the official RIM forums and did not seem to get it when told repeatedly.

I am a little tired of the iPhone comparisons to be truthful. The iPhone is an iPod that is also a phone, the Storm is a BlackBerry that also has a touch screen, thats it! They are pretty different animals. I really think it is the media that is promoting the "iPhone" killer moniker. Frankly if BlackBerrys were also not mobile phones I would still have to have one because of the secure corporate email. There was only one reason I ever even remotely considered an iPhone. That was of course the lightsaber app. And now, I even have that on my storm.

Oh, he's banned?
Must be infuriating for him after he's been given grief by all the official RIM employees here
