Default Keyboard won't go away

Please Login to Remove!

I started having this problem a few days ago.

Basically, what happens is I get the Storm to either make/answer a phone call, read/send a text, for whatever reason - and the keyboard is present on the screen and it doesn't go away.

The only way I can make it go away is by pulling the battery or running QuickPull.

I tried switching to landscape, but the full keyboard comes out and blocks most applications I need/want to access.

Has anyone had this issue?

(I'm running 4.7.0.75)

try swiping your finger lightly from the top of the keyboard to the bottom or give adorkables suggestion a try

Nope - not at all.

Actually, when I do Menu > Hide Keyboard nothing happens. But when I go to try again, (if memory serves) the "Hide Keyboard" is replace with "Show Keyboard" - as if the Storm thinks the keyboard IS hidden, even though it's plainly visible.

I'll have to give that a try - right now I think my Storm knows I'm looking to solve the issue as it hasn't don't its new little trick since yesterday late afternoon.

The really annoying part is that it has worked fince since I got it back in November.

I'm thinking it may be an app I've downloaded and installed :(

Think I'll start deleting the one's I don't use that much and see if the Storm's new trick will stop.

That would drive me crazy! Hopefully it won't start doing it again.

Drakkenkorin,

I encountered this very issue yesterday while having a glass of Terrazza Malbec at my local bistro. I immediately recalled your post too! But I found a quick fix that doesn't involve a battery pull.

Hit your BB key once, which should take you to the full screen of icons. Then hit it again and select "options" (You won't be given the hide screen option because of the glitch). Under the "Set Home Screen Layout" section is a row setting button. Just change your row setting to any setting other than the current one. Save your changes and exit. When you get to the home screen the keyboard should be gone. You can go back and change your row setting back to the preferred setting and the keyboard shouldn't return.

Hope this works for you!

I'll keep that in mind.

I am happy to report though that I think I found the culprit.

I deleted 1 app, the light saber app that was posted about a week ago (which happened to coincide with the start of this trick).

Ever since I've deleted that app, I haven't had that poblem since.

But now that I'm talking about it, I'm sure I'll jinx myself.

You might want to try setting one of the side buttons to show\hide keyboard. My brother and his business partner did this and they seen to like it. I haven't experienced your issue and my side buttons are set to nothing but it's worth a try...

I've never had the light sabre program in my phone. It never happened to me while running .75 but now I am running .99.

If it happens again, try the suggested fix. If it works for you, let me know just for giggles. This is one of the first fixes I found on my own.
