Default Weird. Qwerty keyboard showed up in PORTRAIT mode.

Please Login to Remove!

I'm running the official VZW 4.7.0.75 and yesterday... I was in my messages folder... in PORTRAIT mode... I hit the green button to make a phone call... and for a SPLIT second... it showed a QWERTY keyboard with the dial pad numbers highlighted (positioned off to the left of the keyboard like they are on the Curve)... but then it disappeared and the normal portrait dial pad showed up.

WEIRD.

I thought for a second that my phone did an auto update by itself with a new OS and I now had the QWERTY keyboard in Portrait... but... no.

So... if I still have OS .75 (which I do)... how is it possible to have a qwerty keyboard in portrait mode? Even as a glitch?

Did RIM write all of this code into the STORM and VZW just "activates" parts of it as they go along? ie: the code for a QWERTY keyboard in Portrait mode was always in the Storm... just never "turned on" by VZW?

Well, it's possible thanks to the OS 4.7.0.90. I can't post links right now, but search this on Engadget for more details.
But I don't understand why it worked on your OS .75. Maybe you were too fast for Storm and the lag gave you the impression of a QWERTY keyboard.

I know it's possible on .90... but being on .75... it's weird.

And no... It was not an impression that looked like a qwerty keyboard... it WAS the qwerty keyboard. No mistake about it.

I'm willing to bet my share of the bailout money on it. Oh wait... I never got any.

Then maybe it works on .75 and we have to find a way to "activate" it.

I am running .99 which allows you to activate full Qwerty in portrait mode.

However, even if you could somehow activate it in .75, you really wouldn't find it to be functional. The keys are smaller giving the keyboard the feeling of being cramped when you try to use it. Especially when you try to touch keys near the edges of the screen.

It's more of a novelty and I don't see anyone other than a person with VERY small fingers finding it to be useful.
